Cherry Bars are a family favorite that usually show up at summer picnics. Because they’re easy to make, you can bring them to any type of party throughout the year.
Ingredients
2 Cubes Margarine
1 & 3/4 c. Sugar
1 tsp. Vanilla
4 Eggs
3 c. Flour
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 & 1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
1-2, 21 oz. cans of Cherry Pie Filling
Substitute cherry pie filling for: Blueberry, Apple, Strawberry, etc.
Instructions
Cream margarine, sugar, and vanilla.
Add eggs one at a time.
Add flour, salt, and baking powder.
Grease and flour a large cookie sheet.
Spread 3/4 of batter into the pan.
Spoon pie filling onto the batter.
Spoon the remaining batter onto the pie filling.
Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
Let cool slightly before drizzling frosting on top.
Frosting
1 c. Powdered Sugar
2 Tbs. Milk
1/2 tsp. Almond Extract
Mix in a small bowl with a spoon and drizzle over cooked cherry bars.
