Cherry Bars are a family favorite that usually show up at summer picnics. Because they’re easy to make, you can bring them to any type of party throughout the year.


Ingredients

  • 2 Cubes Margarine
  • 1 & 3/4 c. Sugar
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla
  • 4 Eggs
  • 3 c. Flour
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt
  • 1 & 1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 1-2, 21 oz. cans of Cherry Pie Filling
    • Substitute cherry pie filling for:
      Blueberry, Apple, Strawberry, etc.

Instructions

  • Cream margarine, sugar, and vanilla.
  • Add eggs one at a time.
  • Add flour, salt, and baking powder.
  • Grease and flour a large cookie sheet.
  • Spread 3/4 of batter into the pan.
  • Spoon pie filling onto the batter.
  • Spoon the remaining batter onto the pie filling.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
  • Let cool slightly before drizzling frosting on top.

Frosting

  • 1 c. Powdered Sugar
  • 2 Tbs. Milk
  • 1/2 tsp. Almond Extract
  • Mix in a small bowl with a spoon and drizzle over cooked cherry bars.
