There are plenty of cold evenings from September to April that warrant having this fragrant beverage simmering on the stove.
This is a version of one of my favorite recipes. It takes some work on the front end—including picking, sorting, and canning grapes—but on the back end, it’s a quick and delicious way to warm up through the winter.
Ingredients
- 3 – 5 qt. of canned grape juice
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 1/2 T. cloves
- 8 T. lemon juice
Instructions
1. Drain the grape juice into a large pot.
2. Add cinnamon sticks, cloves, and lemon juice.
3. Stir and simmer until warmed through.
4. Ladle the punch into your favorite mug and enjoy!
Since the canned grapes already have sugar, I only add more to taste. I also like my hot grape punch slightly watered down because of the sugar so if you like a stronger flavor, add another quart of grape juice or a can of concentrate. Once the punch has cooled down, drain off the cinnamon and cloves and pour any remaining juice into a pitcher to refrigerate until you’re ready for another warm cup.
